Autumn 1, Week 3 - Friday 20th September 2024
Another busy week has flown past in Year 6! We have continued working on place value in maths - ordering numbers, including numbers with up to three decimal places.
We properly launched our science topic this week with a simulation of the heart pumping blood. The children really enjoyed creating this simulation to understand how the wall of the heart works and how the blood is pumped out through an artery.
Year 6 have enjoyed role playing as gargoyles and the watchman this week in English to generate vocabulary to evoke an eerie atmosphere.
Of course, Year 6 also had plenty of speaking and listening opportunities this week as they practised for our main event of the week - this year's first Buddy Assembly where the first 14 members of our class presented their buddies to the rest of the school; this is the beginning of their journey together through the year. It was a lovely assembly with really thoughtful words written by Year 6 about their buddies. They did a fantastic job today as they stood up in front of the whole school and a large number of parents. Thank you to the rest of Year 6 for supporting them with their singing - your turn next week!
