Week 5

Welcome to Year 3’s busy week!

On Thursday we took part in a sponsored fitness circuit to raise money for sports equipment.  Everyone was very enthusiastic and did really well.

In Maths, we’ve been learning about right angles and how to use a right-angle checker to help us recognise them in 2D shapes.  Next week we’ll be moving onto investigating perpendicular and parallel lines and their differences as well as practising division facts for the x3 tables.  We’re all doing really well with them!

In English, we’ve published our fables in a class book and next week we’ll be investigating the features and language of persuasive speeches which links to our whole school focus on Oracy.

In Science, we’ve continued to investigate the importance of bones in the human skeleton through discussion and creating models of skeletons to support our understanding.

Finally, in History we’ve investigated how the Britons responded to the Roman invasion.  Some saw it as advantageous since they believed it would bring trade and wealth as well as conveniences like roads and aqueducts whereas others believed it would bring a loss of freedom as well as being forced to abide by Roman laws and religious beliefs.

Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Learner too.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard, Miss Cicero and Mrs Mills
