Week 7
Year 5 have had another busy week and the highlight for us all was today’s RE lesson.
As part of our RE topic about Life Choices, we are learning the importance of the Sacrament of Marriage so we invited Father John to officiate in a ceremony to help us understand how we can live out our commitment to love and service through marriage. Our volunteer bride and groom and the ‘congregation’ were taken through each stage of the ceremony by Father John. We had a best man in charge of the rings (which are a symbol of love and fidelity) and there were four bridesmaids, two flower girls and a maid of honour who supported the bride. As the bride and groom walked down at the end of the ceremony, the congregation sang ‘My God Loves Me’ and brought to an end a very lovely service. Afterwards we discussed the ceremony and its importance and shared our own experiences of weddings.
In Maths we’ve been comparing numbers up to 2 decimal places and in English we’re writing a new setting for our book, ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’ by Mal Peet using examples of adverbials. In History we examined why Queen Elizabeth I went of Royal Progresses and read copies of documents written at the time of her visit to Worcester in 1575 and, in Science, we’re investigating the movement of the Sun, Earth and Moon. ,
Many congratulations to our writer and stars of the week. I hope you have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week. Take care.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
