Our class saint is Saint Josephine Bakhita who was born in Sudan and kidnapped into slavery as a child. After years of suffering, she gained her freedom in Italy in 1889. She became a Catholic nun and was known for her kindness, forgiveness, and strong faith. She served others in Schio, Italy, for over 40 years. In 2000, she was declared a saint by Pope John Paul II. She is the patron saint of Sudan and victims of human trafficking. Her feast day is February 8th.
