Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at St Joseph’s
‘At St Joseph’s, we live, love and learn by the example of Jesus.’
The SEN Code of Practice 2015 states:
‘A pupil has SEN where their learning difficulty or disability calls for special educational provision, namely provision different from or additional to pupils of the same age’.
This statement supports our ethos at St Josephs. We believe that every child deserves the best education while equipping them with the life skills to be successful on their life journey. We support and encourage our children to be independent learners and thinkers. To be caring individuals who put others first. We are passionate about listening to and supporting parents, recognising that their voices and experiences are particularly important in our work with children with SEND. Our team around SEND, as are all of our staff, are driven to look at the whole child and family.
We regularly assess each child and set targets to support their progress. Through regular discussions within class teams, key stages and with SLT, we ensure that everyone understands each child’s needs. Learning is then personalised through appropriate provision mapping and intervention planning.
