Autumn 2

Summer Term 2024

Another fun packed week in Reception. Our book this week was 'Handa's Hen'.

English: We read the book and listed all the animals that Handa saw on her way looking for Mondi her hen. We wrote sentences about Handa, the animals and Mondi.

Phonics; We continued to revisit our Phase 3 sounds and learn our 'Tricky words' said, what and your.

Maths: This week we learnt our 2D shapes . We went on a shape walk and looked for shapes in the environment. We matched and named shapes and cut and stuck shapes.

R.E: We read the story Paper Dolls. We spoke about friendships and the importance of them.

International week: Reception's class was Vietnam. We listened to Vietnamese music and learnt many interesting facts about Vietnam.  We also made Vietnamese flags.

Our Stars this week were: Shamiso and Asaiah. Well done

Week 1 - Spring

Happy New Year!

We have made a busy start to the New Year with our Learning.

Phonics: We concentrated on the sounds 'ch and ai'. Tricky words are 'be & she'.

English: We wrote CVC words and used our phonic knowledge to sound them out and write them.

Maths: We focused on making five and adding to 5 using manipulatives.

R.E: We started our new topic 'Celebrations'. We talked about the events we celebrate such as birthdays, Christmas, New Year, Holy Communion, Easter etc.

Role Play/EAD: Our Florist Role Play is up and running. We have been busy flower arranging for our customers.

Today was wear a 'onesie'- we spent the afternoon sharing books and reading with our Year 6 Buddies. We had lots of fun.
