Week 11

This week at St Joseph’s we have taken part in our Trust’s Charity Week raising money for Westminster’s Catholic Children Society by dressing in blue on Monday, selling raffle tickets, guessing the number of sweets in the jar, guessing the name of the Easter chick and taking part in a Bingo Night on Wednesday. The funds raised will support disadvantaged children and families across London, Hertfordshire and South-East England.

Each class in school was able to have a taster cricket lesson on the school field from the Head Coach, Matt, at Cheshunt Rosedale Cricket Club.  The weather on the day was perfect and Year 5 were able to practise their bowling and catching skills which will stand them in great stead for our cricket unit this coming summer term in PE.

This week we presented our Year 5 Class Mass to our parents. It was a lovely service and everyone read their parts well and sang the hymns beautifully. The theme of the Mass was the Feast of the Annunciation that was celebrated by the Church this week. Father John led us in celebration of Mary and her joyful commitment to God’s Word assisted by his servers and offertory servers. At the end of the Mass, we prayed that God would give us the courage to listen to His Word and be strong and faithful to Him as Mary was and to say yes to His plan.

Finally, the school came together today to spend some quiet time in a Penitential Service reflecting on our journey through Lent so far and on the changes each of us needs to make in our lives. Father John read the Gospel parable of The Prodigal Son which reminded us to say sorry for things we should not have done and of God's unconditional love.

It’s been our Assessment week this week too and everyone has worked really hard so I hope you have a lovely weekend with your family.  Well done to our Writer and stars of the week!

Best wishes

Mrs Howard
