Week 8
What a busy week this has been with lots of events going on, as well as plenty of hard work! Year 5 have continued and completed their work on ordering fractions in maths. In English, inspired by 'The Boy in the Tower', they have been writing in the first person to describe a first encounter with a villainous character.
Outside of the classroom though, plenty was going on. Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday - the last day before Lent and traditionally a time for Christians to use up all the rich food in their cupboards before a time of fasting and abstinence so everyone had a pancake to eat but we also had some great pancake races on the playground!
Wednesday was Ash Wednesday - the beginning of Lent - so we had our traditional Ash Wednesday service led by Father John and the Chaplaincy team.
Thursday was World Book Day, so a day for celebrating all things book related throughout the school. There were some very colourful outfits to be seen and lots of synonyms used for the different colours. Every class had the chance to cook something book related - Year 5 cooked some banana pastries related to the book 'The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me'. They also had time with their young friends in Year 1 to share stories and every teacher visited a different class from their own to share a favourite story.
What a week - very busy but very enjoyable and I'm sure the time just flew by for the children.
Have a lovely weekend.
