Week 12
It’s the end of our Spring Term in Year 5 and the Easter holidays have arrived!
It’s been our D&T week this week and Year 5 have been busy investigating electrical systems
and motors and how to use them in making a doodling tool. After investigating our electrical equipment, we went onto designing Doodlers. Doodlers are modified large decorated cups with pens attached and an electrical circuit that allows a motor to rotate and move the Doodler across a piece of paper. The result is a colourful doodle pattern. The children worked in pairs and enjoyed the challenge of designing their Doodler for another child and then working out how to make it move successfully across a sheet of paper. (See the photos below).
This week we’ve shared important celebrations too. We held our termly Talent Show on Tuesday. It was great fun and it was lovely to see so many performers. Well done to everyone who took part! On Wednesday, the whole school watched Year 3 and 4 perform their Resurrection Rock production. The singing and acting were excellent! Finally, we held our end of term Mass at St Joseph’s Church. Father John led the Mass with Year 6 reading. It was a fitting end to a busy term.
Many congratulations to our Writer and Stars of the Week.
I wish you all a happy and restful Easter time. Take care and stay safe.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
