CLASS NEWS 02.02.24

Good afternoon Parents and Carers,

''RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN...YOU CANT CATCH ME I'M THE GINGERBREAD MAN!''

I am sure you will be able to guess which traditional tale the children have been reading this week! Nursery have really enjoyed retelling this tale and acting it out using the puppets and props. This rich story telling language is so important and it is wonderful to hear the children retelling our traditional tales with such great expression and enthusiasm!

To continue developing our fine motor skills the children have been making some brilliant gingerbread people and have been cutting and sticking clothes, hats, buttons and bows for their gingerbread people. All very creative!

We explored and looked at ginger, a very mixed response to the smell, some children loved the smell while others did not. One thing we all agreed on was we like ginger biscuits!!

As part of our mathematical development this week we have been subitizing to 3 and beyond which the children are getting very good at matching arrays to a number. As part of our phonics phase two we have been listening and matching with the sound 'p'.Next week we will explore 'i' sound. The children are getting really good at listening and identifying the initial sound. We have also been practicing name writing - Well done Nursery a great effort!

As you might know tomorrow is the celebration of the Lunar Chinese New Year, we finished our week by learning all about how this celebration is celebrated and made our own Chinese lanterns!

I look forward to meeting with you all next week for our Parent consultations.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
