Class News - Week 2

 Week 2:

This week has flown by and we have packed so much in from Maths to English to a remembrance day for Queen Elizabeth II.

In English this week, we have been looking at riddles. So far, we have looked at solving riddles by using the clues. On Tuesday we will look at our new spelling rule, plan and write our own riddles and then we will move on to looking at Myths.

In Maths we have continued looking at place value. We have looked at adding and subtracting 1, 10, 100 and 1000. We have also been looking at ordering 4 digit numbers and regrouping them. Next week, we will start to look at rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 100.

This week, our Topic lessons have been focusing on Queen Elizabeth in the decade 1972-82. We looked at 70s fashion and how the Queen took the fashion and made it her own. Each one of us designed an outfit for the Queen to wear and present them to the rest of the school. We also looked at the Silver Jubilee that took place in 1977. We made union jacks to wave during assembly. We then ended the week with a remembrance service with a minute’s silence and ending on the national anthem.

In RE we have continued looking at family trees. This week we looked at Jesus’ family tree in Matthew’s Gospel. In addition to this, we have also looked at the story of Abraham and Sarah.

What makes a healthy diet? Year 4 have been learning and recapping the different food categories and what saturated and unsaturated foods are.  Next week, we will start looking at the digestive system and how food travels through.
