Week 7 (16.2.24)

Well done Year 3 we’ve arrived at half term and what a lovely week it’s been to finish on!

It’s been Art Week and we’ve been busy practising our observational and drawing skills. We’ve learnt how artists use shape when they are drawing as well as tone through the use of shading. We created different textures on paper as well by a rubbing technique called frottage and used these to create our pictures.

In Maths, we’ve been investigating and drawing parallel lines as well as comparing regular and irregular polygons.

In English, we’ve been using inverted commas and writing a setting description for our class book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Chris Riddell.

We had a lovely visit from Father John too who spoke to us about Lent and Ash Wednesday.  We had a lot of questions to ask him and it was a very interesting afternoon.

Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Writer too.

We hope you have a lovely and restful half-term break and we look forward to seeing you in Spring 2.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard and Miss Cicero

P.S. Please see the information and entry form for the 'Love Cheshunt' drawing competition below.  This is part of your half-term homework along with reading and practising your times tables smiley
