Hello everyone! Our first news of the year. I hope you are all well. The children are all settling well into Year One and we have had a good first week!

In maths we have been reinforcing our understanding and use of positional language. 

Our book this week was Plenty Of Love to Go Round. We have been learning how to write labels, lists and captions. 

We launched our topic this week which is Toys Old and New. The children enjoyed talking about and drawing their favourite toys. 

We also started our science topic, Everyday Materials, and we ‘brainstormed’ all of the materials that we know about. 

Today we went to Forest School and explored the area, checked our trees and looked for minibeasts.

Homework books are sent out on a Thursday and need to be returned for the following Tuesday. I will also send out the homework grid next week for extra homework activities and details of our topic related project.

Please send in a pair of wellies to be kept at school. We will be going to Forest School for the next 3 Fridays so the children will need a pair of wellies and a jacket in case of inclement weather.
