Week 10 (17.11.23)

This week has gone very quickly and I’m so pleased with everything Year 3 have achieved!

In English we’ve started a fascinating book non-fiction book called ‘Atlas of Adventures’.  It’s certainly going to take us on an adventure too as we travel around the globe visiting lots of interesting countries and filling in our ‘passports’.

In Maths we’ve continued with our work on developing strategies to help us with our mental addition. Not only do we use ‘Think 10’ to help us add ones to larger numbers, but we’ve been exploring using ‘Think 100’ as well. We’ve also looked at commutativity as well and understood that, with addition, we can have numbers in any order to add them together.

In Science we’ve been investigating whether we can see when there’s an absence of light and what range of colours we can see on reflective objects such as CDs.  In Geography, we’ve been learning about the layers of the earth and their different properties and in RE we’re investigating the importance of the Sacrament of Baptism.

This week has been Anti-Bullying Week and we’ve been discussing what bullying is and how we can deal with it. Today we celebrated Children In Need too and Year 3 took part in a Dance class which was great fun! During our Celebration Assembly the Line Dance club and the teachers danced for the rest of the school!  It was great fun and I’m sure that the school will have raised a good total for Children In Need.

Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Writer too.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Best wishes
