Week 12 (28.3.24)

This has been a very special week for St Joseph’s; not only has it been our final week in school before Easter but it’s been Holy Week too.  On Monday, we celebrated a whole school Palm Assembly where every child was given a palm in celebration of Palm Sunday the day before. On Tuesday, we held a class assembly on the Stations of the Cross.  We went into the hall to pray and contemplate each station in turn.  Afterwards we wrote about the station that had the biggest impact on us and why. Finally, we held a special service for Maundy Thursday today and Father John washed the feet of 12 pupils.  In the afternoon, our class and Year 4 told the Easter story.  Year 4 led the performance by acting out the Easter story and we supported them singing the beautiful hymns connected to the story.  The acting and the singing were excellent and it was a very moving performance.

It's been our D&T week this week as well and we've been busy designing and constructing castles.  First of all, we researched the features of castles and then designed one for a particular person; such as, a fairy princess or a brave king.  We practised building various 3D shapes to help us with our final construction.  We created a basic shape and then put a castle wall facade around it and added towers (either cuboid or cylindrical) shaped. We were able to show our D&T work as well as our Art from the rest of the year to our parents in our Art Gallery display in the hall on Wednesday afternoon.  They were very impressed!

Well done to our Writer and stars of the week! We wish you a very Happy Easter break and look forward to seeing you in the Summer Term!

Best wishes
