Year 6, Spring 1

Happy New Year to everyone; I hope you all enjoyed some time with family and are in good health.

It’s been a short week but Year 6 are getting back into the swing of things.  We’ve looked at some interesting vocabulary through our current text “Clockwork” by Philip Pullman.  Maths currently is looking at properties of shape and we’ve started by ensuring we know the mathematical vocabulary to use.

Today we launched this term’s topic – Frozen Kingdom.  Our challenge this afternoon was to discover why polar bears have blubber.  We used ice and lard to investigate – you can try this at home!  It was an interesting and fun afternoon and we look forward to the rest of this topic.
