Week 9 (8.3.24)

Well done on a very busy and exciting week! Yesterday we had World Book Day and came dressed as either heroes or villains.  The costumes were excellent – we had Harry Potters, various Marvel characters, a Mandolorian, princesses and fairy godmother and even Robin Hood.  During the day we enjoyed writing a fractured fairy tale, reading our class book, ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’, decorating a paper plate with the front cover of our favourite book and then reading it to Year 1.

In the rest of the week, we visited our newly-stocked library and in English, we continued with our work on ‘Jubari Jumps’ as well as another book called ‘The Proudest Blue’ by Ibtihaj Muhammad.  We discussed the characters in both stories including what they are feeling at different stages of their stories to order to help us with our own real-life experiences.

In Maths, we’re continuing to explore the perimeter of 2-D shapes as well as practising our multiplication tables.

In RE, we’re looking at the Gloria and writing our own. Today we took part in a Penitential Service as part of Lent and it was led by Father John and the Year 6 Chaplaincy team.

In Science, we investigated how magnetic forces can act at a distance to attract an object.

Today we enjoyed making Mother’s Day cards and we took flowers home for them too. We hope that all Mothers have a very special and happy day this Sunday. Finally well done to our Writer and stars of the week!

Best wishes

Mrs Howard and Miss Cicero
