Year One Class News 8.7.2022

Wow what a fantastic and very busy week it has been!

This week started with our much anticipated trip to Cedars Park. We began our trip walking to Cedars. Our first stop was to go into the mini zoo. We all had a chance to feed the meerkats and listen to the keeper tell us all about them. After that we looked at the other animals in the zoo. Then we went for a walk around the park and played on the hill. We sat for lunch then played in the maze followed by a final trip to the mini zoo where we had a meet and greet with a skunk named Darwin! Darwin was very friendly and we were all able to stroke him if we wanted to. We were very lucky indeed! After we got back to class, we all enjoyed a delicious rainbow ice cream cone! A fantastic day was had by all. Thank you to Mrs Sharp and Mrs Dida for joining us.

In maths, we continued to develop our understanding of telling the time. The children are fantastic at telling the time to half past and o clock on an analogue clock and are now so adept that they can check to see when it's break and lunchtime!

In English, as it was aspirations week, the children wrote about what they would like to be when they grow up. They even wrote letters to apply for some jobs around the school and explained why they thought they were perfect for the job! We definitely have some future teachers and head teachers in the class. It was hard to argue with one child who suggested if they were head teacher they would give everyone extra break and ice cream. After today's heat wave, they definitely have my full support!

Aspirations week ended with a fantastic day today. The children looked great in their costumes and were all able to tell me what they want to be when they grow up. We went into the hall and Year 6 had set up different occupation role play areas for the children to enjoy and we also had a visit from the police, for our budding police officers!

Overall it was a great week. Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday,

Mrs Carpineta and Mrs Cina.
