Class News (23.9.22)

This week we came back to school on Tuesday after a Bank Holiday for the funeral of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

In our English we’ve explored our super narrative book called ‘The Wolves in the Walls’ written by Neil Gaiman.  You’ve predicted what could happen next from different characters’ points of view and written a review identifying what you liked, disliked and even puzzled you in this scary but exciting story. I was impressed that some of you even made connections to similar stories and ideas that you’ve come across before. We’ve also been revising our understanding of co-ordinating conjunctions to help us to extend our sentences for our next piece of work on our book.

In Maths we’ve been examining the place value of numbers up to 1 million and putting a variety of numbers onto number lines as well as comparing large numbers.

The weather this week played a big part in our Science lesson – we were going to record how the rotation of the Earth creates day and night using our own sundials in the school playground.  However, you may remember that Wednesday was a very cloudy day well as being our day for Science! Therefore, we learnt about how the tilt of the Earth creates the seasons instead and had an interesting discussion about our ideas. Fingers crossed that the weather is sunnier for us next week!

Finally, many congratulations to our Stars and writer of the week! Have a super weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week in class.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard
