Class News - S1 - Week 3

Gong hei fat choy - Happy Lunar New Year

We had a fantastic start to our week with a letter back from Mr. Sunak. He was delighted with our letter and thanked Year Four for their dedication and concern regarding water pollution. Our voices in Year 4 have been heard! We are still waiting to hear back from the authors of the book "The Lost Words," so hopefully we get a reply in the coming weeks.

We have begun a new topic in English that is based on setting descriptions. We used our reading skills to infer what the characters are like based on the description. We have been learning about the various ways you can use figurative language in our own writing.

In maths, we have started looking at data. We looked at continuous data and discrete data. We then created our first line graph based on how quickly a sunflower has grown. We will continue this next week and then go on to areas and perimeters.

We had a fantastic afternoon in the forest school for our science lesson this week, where we looked for different animals in their habitats. We drew quick sketches of these and added detail about the habitat. We also started to classify different animals based on set criteria.

In Topic, we started our Anglo-Saxon topic. We looked at the different locations where the Saxons invaded and started to look at the reasons why they invaded.

Well done to our stars and writer this week!
