WEEK 5

This week the children have enjoyed going through step by step instructions to plant cress seeds. They then went on to grow their own cress seeds and write their own lists of resources and instructions.

Well done to our writers of the week. It is great to see their progress with independent writing of words and sentences during phonics.

In Maths the children have been noticing number patterns and matching groups of objects to mathematical models found on dice, playing cards and numerals. They have been encouraged to talk in detail about the patterns they see.

We have walked to church twice this week for St Francis service and for learning about the sacrament of baptism and the meaning of baptism symbols. The children were asked to write about what they had learned. They have also enjoyed RE discussions about God and how he loves us and cares for us.

The theme for this year's Black History Month is, 'Salute the Sisters.' The children have heard stories and watched videos about Aretha Franklin, and Mae Jemison. Well done to our volunteers who were brave enough to stand up in front of the whole school in assembly and share some of what they had learned about these amazing women who achieved their childhood dreams and made amazing contributions for the world.
