Week 8 (1.3.24)

Everyone in Year 3 were given Star of the week today!  In my absence this week, they have worked hard and have been welcoming and polite to their supply teacher. What superstars! Well done!

Today we attended Mass with Year 4 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church.  The Mass was led by Father Tom and we gave thanks for our family and friends and remembered those no longer with us.

In English, we started our new unit on personal narratives by looking at a book by Gaia Campbell called ‘Jumbari Jumps’.  It tells the very personal story of Jumbari who has just passed all his swimming tests and now wants to be brave enough to dive from the large diving board at the local pool. By the end of the unit, the class will be writing their own personal narrative story rooted in a real-life experience.

In Maths, we’re exploring the perimeter of simple 2-D shapes and then we’ll move onto using multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

In RE, we’re on our Lent journey and will be exploring this time of the year through the Mass and understanding what we can share with others.

In Science, will be continuing with our Forces and Magnets topic and in Geography we’re investigating Antarctica and who lives there.

Many congratulations once again to everyone in the class for receiving Star of the week and well done to our writer too.  Have a lovely weekend and we’ll see you next week.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard and Miss Cicero
