Class News (17.3.23)

I can’t believe that there are only two more weeks until the end of this Spring term and then we’ll be starting our final term in Year 5!

It’s been another busy week!  In English we filmed our news reports and every group produced a really good programme.  The questions were open and non-leading, our experts gave facts and opinions clearly and our eye witnesses were able to describe their feelings and concerns. The journalists in each group introduced their programmes and asked their questions well as if they were professional interviewers.  Well done Year 5!

In Maths we’ve been looking at different strategies to multiply fractions by whole numbers and deciding which we prefer.

In Computing we’ve been investigating databases and creating our own class database and in History we’ve been looking at the evidence that shows Vikings settled in Britain and had an important influence on our language. In PE we’re continuing to enjoy our Yoga lessons with Ms Gunn as well.

Today we’ve been celebrating St Joseph’s Day which is this Sunday (19th March).  We held a Mass in the morning and then designed and created portraits of the saint with key quotations which described his importance in the life of Jesus and ourselves using oil pastels and coloured pencils. We finished the afternoon with ice creams to celebrate the feast day.  Everyone agreed that they were delicious!

Many congratulations to our Writer and Stars of the Week. Have a good weekend and I’ll see you back in school on Monday. Take care and stay safe.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard
