Year 6, Spring 2, Week 3

Another busy and enjoyable week has flown by.  We were lucky enough to have an author visit the school on Wednesday who did an assembly with the whole school and a workshop with each class.  Ours was on characterisation and I’m sure the children gained a lot from listening to him – I look forward to seeing it reflected in their writing.

 

Maths this week has been a practical one with lots of drawing as we recapped plotting co-ordinates in all four quadrants before moving on to drawing shapes when given some of the co-ordinates and translating shapes to different places – definitely something that is easy to practise at home.

 

Today has been class charity day and we were, as you know, raising funds for the people of the Ukraine.  Thank you to all of you for your generous donations – in Year 6 we raised £70, which is amazing.  We had a lovely time baking and decorating our biscuits; I hope they all made it safely home but I have my suspicions that some didn’t!  See below for the photographs of the children’s creations.
