Nursery News 4/11/22

A busy week in Nursery this week. We began our new half term topic, People who help us. Our story this week was Dr Duck so we looked at the role of doctors and nurses. We converted the role play area into a hospital and even had our own x ray machine! The children all enjoyed dressing up, pretending to be doctors and taking care of their patients. Mrs Direnzo and I received an injection or two too!

The children developed their fine motor skills with colour, mark making, letter/name writing, cutting and sticking the objects a doctor might carry in their bag and using plastic syringes to transfer 'medicine' from a large bowl into a smaller container. The children really enjoyed this activity.

For their mathematical learning this week, the children had a picture of a sad emoji face with a number underneath to which they had to add the matching amount of spots to the face with a red felt pen. We also had our first carpet time number formation lesson and we all tried very hard to write '0'. Please do practise writing numbers at home especially revisiting zero.

We had our first visit to the school library and will be taking books home soon once our library system has been updated.

The afternoon children celebrated their first mass at school this week too and sat beautifully for it. Mrs Direnzo and I were very impressed. We will be having mass again next Friday afternoon for our Remembrance service.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Monday,

Mrs Carpineta.
