    Our Chaplaincy work

    I have this morning received notification that we have a winner amongst us.

    As a part of our Academy work we are starting to join up in prayer and mission with other Chaplaincy teams. Our chaplaincy team was asked along with the teams in the other 7 schools to design a badge that will become the badge for all the Chaplaincy teams in the academy. All 9 children at St Joseph’s entered their design and I am so proud and privileged to announce that a St Joseph’s pupil won.

    Congratulations to Sebastian!

    His design can be viewed by clicking the link.

    This will be Sebastian’s and the Chaplaincy team of 2022 lasting legacy to our Academy and our school.

    The children also wrote a chaplaincy prayer that was shared. A part of each schools prayer was used to make the new Academy Chaplaincy prayer .

    Our lines read;

    May you guide us and our academy

    today and always,

    on a path of a shared mission.

    St Francis pray for us.

    The whole prayer can be seen by clicking below.

  • Children’s Wellbeing Week

    Sun 06 Feb 2022

    Children’s Mental Health Week is taking place on

    7-13 February 2022.

    This year’s theme is

    Growing Together.

    We will be encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown, and how they can help others to grow.

    Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.

    This week we have many events taking place for Children’s Mental Health week.Some of them are;

    • Whole school Assembly led by Mrs Bonsignore on Growing together

    • A class competition in KS2 to redesign their class check in chart (the new design will go through the school with them).

    • Each class to start a positive thoughts jar.

    • Ongoing mindful minute and increased check in.

    • Wellbeing Wednesday (re launched for spring)

    • Assembly for Key stages led by our Mental Health trainee practitioner on Thursday.

    • Parent work shop – Thursday

    • A dedicated Friday afternoon for wellbeing activities .All teachers will swap classes and focus on activities such as ;yoga,a winter walk,forest activities,art,biscuit decorating and more.

    For us at St Joseph’s this is a celebration of everything we currently do but shouting a bit louder. We will continue to lead our well being interventions for children and support for parents. We will be re launching lunchtime nurture after half term.This has been working in a different way through covid but now we need to mix a bit more. Ongoing check in,nurture breakfast and daily mindfulness after lunch.In KS 2 our children lead these sessions.As well as our PSHE through jigsaw circle times.
