WEEK 2 - 19|09|2026
WOW, another busy week of learning and fun in Year 2! 📚
This week in English, we finished reading Frog and the Stranger. The children loved hearing about the disasters faced by the animals and how Rat always came to the rescue. They then created their own story plans and worked in groups to role-play their ideas. It was wonderful to see their imaginations come to life before beginning to write their own stories.
In Maths, we concluded our first place value unit. The children have been building numbers up to 100, exploring odd and even numbers, and learning how to use the greater than and less than symbols. Next week, we will begin a new unit on place value, focusing on adding tens and more.
In History, we carried out an interview with Mrs Nicolini to learn about what school was like in the past. The children asked thoughtful questions and were fascinated to discover that she had wooden tables and chairs, and that subjects such as RE and PSHE were not taught!
In Science, we continued our learning on life cycles, comparing butterflies, frogs, and humans. The children also researched what animals and humans need in order to survive.
In RE, we began our new topic, Covenant and Creation. We recapped our prior learning and explored how the Bible is split into the Old Testament and the New Testament, learning that any stories about Jesus belong in the New Testament. We also studied the story of Noah’s Ark and discussed the meaning of sin.
Finally, a huge congratulations to our Stars and Learner this week:
✨ Stars of the Week: Yasli and Shamiso for their amazing behaviour, help, and effort throughout the week.
✏️ Learner of the Week: Jason for showing fantastic determination across all subjects.
Well done to everyone for another amazing week!
