Week 3 British Science Week
This week was British Science Week. In reception we have had an amazing time learning about how our planet has changed over time. We looked at our planet earth and how so much of the land has separated. We then looked at dinosaurs. We learnt why they are no longer alive. We learnt words such as 'extinct, pre-historic, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore and fossils'.
We made our own fossils using salt dough, this was great fun! We froze dinosaurs in water balloons and observe over time how they defrosted. We tried to defrost the ice using the warmth of our hands then we tested what would happen if we poured salt over them.
We continued our learning about dinosaurs by measuring the height of the dinosaurs using cubes, we matched dinosaur's skeletons with the dinosaur picture and using playdough we continued making foot prints and body using play dinosaurs.
We can say we thoroughly enjoyed learning about dinosaurs.
We didn't just learn about dinosaurs!!!
Our story this week was 'Dear Zoo', we read the story and decided to write a letter back saying why we couldn't keep such animals. We then painted the animals from the story in the crates they were delivered in.
We continued with our subtraction in maths. Using lots of various strategies to help us.
Stars of the week: Myles and Elsa.
Enjoy looking at the many photos of this week.
