Year 6, Autumn 1, Week 2
Another week draws to a close and, again, it’s been a busy one.
Maths this week has been based on place value, practising it in a variety of ways by looking at large numbers, numbers with 3 decimal places and negative numbers before finishing with practising our rounding skills.
In English, our guided reading and writing lessons are both based on Goodnight Mr Tom. The children are enjoying the story and have been using dialogue to show characterisation this week.
On Tuesday we attended Church for the first Class Mass of the year. Well done Year 6 for setting the standard for everyone else! The reading was excellent and the singing was beautiful. It was lovely to start the year by having Mass together in Church. Thank you to the parents who were able to come and join us in spite of the change of date.
Finally, the highlight for the children this week, I think – this afternoon Year 6 met their Reception buddies and had a wonderful time playing and getting to know them. We look forward to spending lots more time with them and to introducing them to the school in the buddy assembly in a couple of weeks.
