Friday again and the end of a very busy week!

In English this week our focus book was 'Stanley's Stick' by John Hegley. The children have enjoyed the story so far. The children had to make predictions about what Stanley was going to use his stick for and then developed their oracy skills by talking about what their stick would be if they had a stick like Stanley. Many of the children were keen for their stick to be a wand while other suggestions included being a musical instrument, a rocket to take them to the moon, a flag for a castle and as a spoon to mix magical potions! All of these will be great ideas for when the children write their own 'stick-based' stories!

In maths we continued out understanding of doubling using groups of cubes and writing matching addition sums.

In history we began comparing old and new toys discussing what both old and new toys are made from.

Today was our class charity day, our chosen charity being Barnardos. We also had a party with some of the leftover food from the Christmas party. A fun end to a great week!

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday,

Mrs Carpineta.
