Spring 2, Week 1 - Friday 28th February
The half term holiday flew by and here we are in Spring 2. This week has, as usual, been a very busy one. In maths, we have been tackling algebra, including balancing and simplifying equations. It's been tricky but everyone has persevered, so well done Year 6.
Our English unit at the moment is looking at dialogue in a range of different texts to see how authors use dialogue to engage the reader, move the plot on and reveal detail about characters. Everyone particularly enjoyed the text extract from 'Wonder' by R J Palacio so maybe a trip to the library to borrow a copy is a good idea this weekend, Year 6!
We have completed our RE unit on Sources, which was an interesting unit looking in detail at the different books in the Bible and how books, especially the Bible, enrich our lives. We have now started our topic of Unity, which seems a very relevant one in the world at the moment!
Next week promises to be a very busy one again with Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and World Book Day. Don't forget that we will have the Ash Wednesday service for the distribution of ashes at 9.10am on Wednesday.
