Year 6, Autumn 1, Week 2
This has been our first full week back at school this academic year and Year 6 have been working hard.
In maths, we have continued our work on place value, looking at whole numbers with up to 8 digits and decimal numbers with up to 3 decimal places. Year 6 have practised reading and writing numbers in numerals and words, ordering and comparing numbers.
We have used the book Tuesday again this week in English to stimulate writing. The children have written some interesting wildlife reports from the point of view of the frogs, as well as crime reports and informal letters. Next week we will write our final pieces from Tuesday before moving on to a new book.
The highlight of the week for Year 6 was that, as well as having fun times in Reception with the children on a couple of afternoons, they also each found out who their own buddy was. Buddy assemblies will be taking place in the next few weeks, so Year 6 will enjoy doing some activities with their buddies and introducing them to the rest of the school.
