Year 6, Summer 1, Week 3
After a brief spell of some slightly summery weather, we're back to it being cold, wet and rainy but, rain or shine, Year 6 are working their socks off revising!
This week in maths, we have practised interpreting different types of graph including line graphs and pie charts; we've also looked at multi-step problems, choosing which operations need to be used and in which order. We've also done an arithmetic test under test conditions and almost everyone in the class had improved their scores greatly!
In English Year 6 have practised a lot of reading skills to help improve their reading speed and fluency so that they can skim for key words. They've also practised timed sections of reading tests. In grammar, we've concentrated on subordinate clauses and parenthesis.
Over the next week, Year 6 need to keep up the daily reading - aloud, to an adult, discussing the text and vocabulary. Also, times tables need to be fluent and sharp. It would also be useful to keep practising telling the time and finding change from £10, £20 or £30.
We're nearly there, Year 6!
