Week 11
We’ve had a super end to the week with our Aspirations Day. The class came dressed in a variety of clothes to show the job they might like to do when they’re older – from teachers, to chefs, to gymnasts and footballers, to a DJ, palaeontologist and even an astronaut! We were very lucky to have adults come into speak to us too – from an accountant, a sports coach, a police officer and even an officer from the Royal Marines Band Service. It was a very inspiring day and gave us a lot to think about.
In Maths this week, we’ve practised our x4 tables using TTRS – both multiplication and division facts – as well as our x8 tables. We used manipulatives like base-10 to help us with dividing 2 and 3 digit numbers by one digit as well. In English, we’ve spent this week examining chapter 2 of 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes and written a story on the events at the beginning of it.
In Science, we investigated how humans and other animals have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement and in Geography we walked along the High Street to investigate land use. We wanted to know why there were shops and churches there, why the road and railway ran through the area and what human and physical features we could add to make the area even better. It was our last swimming lesson this week as well and we’re delighted to see how much progress everyone has made in their lessons.
Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Writer too.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
Best wishes
