CLASS NEWS 26.01.24
Good afternoon Parents,
Wow another week over in Nursery !
It goes so fast when you’re having fun and what a fun and very busy week it has been!
As part of our ‘Traditional Tales’ topic, we have been reading Goldilocks and the three
bears. We started with our Nursery class Baby Bear teddy sitting next to his broken
chair in our classroom. Baby Bear 🐻 then began to retell the story. What had happened. We now have a cottage in our role play area where the children have been making
porridge using the different size bowls and spoons and sitting on different size chairs.
They have enjoyed using the puppets , masks and props to act out and retell the story!
As you will have seen from your child’s profile we have been sequencing the story events, the children’s retelling was brilliant using such great story language! We also have
been sorting different sizes of bowls, chairs and beds into size order. To develop our
fine motor skills we have been tearing and scrunching green tissue paper to make our
forest scene and cutting and sticking our dress the bear for winter pictures which you
will see hanging in the classroom. We also tasted porridge and made a pictogram chart
to show who liked it and who didn’t. I have to say quite a lot of the children did! We was
so pleased that they had a go and just tried it 😊. In phonics we have been learning
the ‘s’ and ‘a’ sound , we have tried really hard to listen to the initial sound and sort
objects into each group depending on the sound.
In P.E we went to the hall and we practiced finding a space, different ways to travel and move e.g. skipping and we balanced a bean bag on different parts of our body !
They all did brilliantly! Thank you for your continued support. Wishing you a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs Vinci and Mrs Direnzo
