Class News (9.6.23)
We’ve had a great start to our final term in Year 5! In English we’ve started an exciting new unit based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth! This week we’ve been reading the story and creating journey maps of the story and then writing a description of the setting of the first scene. I’ve been so impressed with how everyone has tried hard to describe the heath where three witches foretell a prophecy which says Macbeth will become king. You’ve used some really effective vocabulary and included a super range of similes and metaphors and some of you have used direct speech to move the action along really well. I’m looking forward to next week’s work when we start to look at the text that Shakespeare wrote and perform it too!
In Maths we’ve been investigating angles – acute, obtuse, right angled and reflex - and practising how to use a protractor to measure a variety of angles. In Science we’re continuing to look at living things and their habitats and have been learning about how plants reproduce and in Geography we’ve been looking at how to conserve food, water and energy supplies.
Many congratulations to our Writer and Stars of the Week. Have a good week-end and enjoy the sunshine. Take care and stay safe.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
