INTERNATIONAL DRESS UP - 2023

WOW! What a fun, vibrant, colourful day we've had at St. Joseph's today! The children looked absolutely fantastic in their cultural dress and colours; thank you so much to our parents who helped to make this such a success. The children have loved sharing lots of facts and information about their cultures and we have all learnt so much from them.

What a wonderful celebration of all our families and communities.

French Day

Bonjour tout le monde! This week we celebrated our French Day at St Joseph’s. The children came to school in the morning wearing a combination of French colours: blue, white and red. The aim of the day was to introduce more vocabulary to KS1 and to encourage KS2 to use conversational French in different scenarios as well as learning more about the country and the culture. Many of the KS1 classes started their days by learning songs to help them with their counting in French as well as learning about colours and animals. In KS2 classes created Fact files about France and practised asking for food in French before they were served with a delicious selection of French breakfast foods. KS1 tried croissants and chocolate brioche as well.

Throughout the day each class had the chance to learn some French dancing. Our lovely instructor, Jo, helped us learn dances such as the can-can as well as a range of country dancing moves. It was great fun.

In the afternoon Years 3, 4 and 5 became French painters; Year 3 used the work of Henri Matisse to inspire their Art work, Year 4 drew in the style of Vincent Van Gogh (who lived in France for many years) and Year 5 used watercolours and wax crayons to create a range of stunning paintings showing the water lilies at the home of Claude Monet in Giverny.

We had a lovely and inspiring day!

Beaucoup de felicitations!

The Queen's Jubilee Celebrations

We celebrated this amazing occasion with our very own 'Street party'. Thank you to those 4 parents who helped with making our delicious Jam sandwiches and then tasting squash making and of course clearing away. We festooned our playground ,put on our crowns and partied away.

International Week Celebrations

This week has been such a fantastic celebration of all of our cultures. The children have experienced ;traditional costume/dress day ,where children all learnt about each other's cultures, artists from around the world and created some amazing art work, music and dance from around the world. Every class worked with Miss Cicero on a Bollywood dance and then they performed as a whole school, it was a magical sight. The true celebration of our week was our international food festival .Thank you to all our parents who cooked, prepared and help serve our children. I don't think I have seen plates piled so high.
