We’ve had another busy time in Year 5 with our D&T week.  Our brief was to design and make a pop-up story book for a Year 1 child.  We worked in pairs to write a short story from a simple nursery rhyme to stories about Christmas and Santa Claus. Then we had to plan what type of movable parts we were going to make for the book so that it was as much fun to read as possible.  We learnt about the different types of lever we could make and how we could use spacers to ensure that the levers stayed in place.  We’ve added backgrounds to our books and will have them finished next week to show to Year 1.

This week has been our assessment week as well and we’ve been working really hard on our two Maths papers and our English tasks as well.

Every week, for one of our PE lessons we’ve been to the Laura Trott Sports Centre for our swimming lessons. This week was our final time this term and the coaches were very pleased with our progress.

Many congratulations to our Stars of the Week and our writer of the week.  Once again, it was a really hard decision to make as you’re all working so well in Year 5.  Do keep it up for our new Spring term too!
