The Colour of Nature

This month we will have the opportunity to participate in an art competition inspired by “The Colour of Nature.”  Here are the details from the competition organisers:

The past year has been tough for everyone – children haven’t been able to go to school and families have been kept apart from their loved ones. More than at any other time nature has played its part in our wellbeing. We have watched the seasons and landscape change and many of us have learnt to truly appreciate how beautiful our county is whilst enjoying long walks in Hertfordshire’s rambling countryside.

The benefits of being outside have been well documented and this competition enables us to celebrate Hertfordshire’s green spaces through the eyes of a child. This year we are asking the schoolchildren to think about nature all around them to produce a piece of artwork which captures the colour of nature.

Winning artists will receive certificates and vouchers, commended artists will receive
certificates and the overall winning school will receive £500 in gift vouchers for their art
department. Certificates and vouchers will be presented during the Spring Term.

The competition is open to Primary School children in Hertfordshire. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in years 0-2, years 3-4 and years 5-6. Once the judging is completed our Judge, local artist Val Cansick, will display winning artwork on her website, Val Cansick Studio.

Here is one interpretation of the brief:

It is not necessary to put any words on your artwork.

You can use any inspiration from the great outdoor spaces in Hertfordshire and any season of the year.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 19th November 2021.  Please make sure entries are clearly labelled on the reverse side with the creator’s name and class.

You can give entries to Miss Gunn or ask your class teacher to pass them on to her.

We can enter a maximum of 6 pieces of work from our school and we will share many more on the school website.

Looking forward to seeing your artworks when they are finished.
