WEEK 1

Happy New Year and welcome back!

We have delved straight into our new topics this week but we made it to the end of the week!

In History, we have started looking at the Greeks. We have gone all the way back to the start of Year 3 again to remind our self what has happened up to this point. We have also looked at what was happing in the world as the ancient Greek period starts. We found the ancient Egyptians and the Mycenaean civilisation were happening alongside the Iron Age and Bronze Age. We created our own timeline based on what was happening during the Ancient Greek period.

In Re, we have started our new topic ‘MISSION’. ‘Do we all have a mission in life?’

We have started looking at the word mission and what it means in different contexts. Our first lesson we focused on a story of a woman called Elly Jansen and the mission that she has set out to do. We came up with our own charity which we would like to set up and discussed what the mission would be. We have added them to our display.

We have started looking at long multiplication in maths by multiplying 2-digit-by-2-digit number. We have spent a lot of time looking at the step by step method to approach this method. Remembering to:

  1. One X ones
  2. Ones X tens
  3. Tens X ones (REMEMBER TO PUT THE 0)
  4. Tens X Tens
  5. Add the two numbers together

In English, we have completed our cinquain poems based on war. They all follow the structure and wow, they were all really good! Great figurative language and powerful vocabulary used. We have done some cross curricular writing this week, retelling the events of Christmas from the perspective of the Three Kings for Epiphany.

Well done to the stars and writers this week!
