Class News 1.3.24
Hello everyone, another busy week comes to an end and what a week it was. In English our book was Ravi's Roar and we talked about our emotions, writing about the things we can do if we feel angry, just like Ravi!
In maths we were adding to 20 using tens frames and the children worked so hard, so well done!
We had a drama workshop this week, which was a lot of fun and every child was engaged, pretending to be an explorer.
In RE we discussed times when we have special meals and what makes them special.
Today was St David's Day and, since St David is our class saint, we celebrated his feast day in style! Mrs O'Connor came in and made Welsh cakes with us, which were delicious. She had also set up a zoom meeting with another St Joseph's school in Wales so we could see how they were celebrating this special day. The children really enjoyed seeing the other children in traditional Welsh clothes and they taught us how to count to 5 in Welsh! It was a real treat and was such a lovely experience.
Last but not least, we had our prayer service this week and it was lovely to welcome so many of you in! The children all said their lines and sang beautifully and we are all so very proud of them!
Well done Year 1!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Carpineta
