How are we feeling today?...
Another fun packed week has flown by in Nursery! The children are all continuing to settle and learn all our nursery class routines and we are so proud at how they are all doing. This week our Nursery book was 'The Colour Monster' - it is a book that unpacks all our different emotions that we feel and try to make sense of them. We also use the colour monsters as our morning check in which you might have seen the children start to do as they come into class. Class check in is something we do as a whole school, where each child adds their name to a feeling. It is a way of a child letting us know how they have come into school that particular morning and how they might be feeling. Nursery are enjoying finding their photo, it also has their name to support with name recognition. We have done many activities around this book - the children used tweezers to pick up different coloured pom poms to match colours and develop their hand/eye coordination and to build strength in their hands to support pencil grip. Some of the children also enjoyed using the sand timer to see how many they could pick up in a minute. In maths we have been singing our counting songs and using our fingers to match number to quantity.
We also had our whole school retreat day this week - it was such a fun day and the children all enjoyed Year 3 visiting their classroom to support them with activities. Our RE theme is 'Creation', after listening to the Creation story and discussing our beautiful world, Nursery and Year 3 made their own creation plates. Some made night and day, some children made the animals on land and in the sea and some plants and trees. In the afternoon they made wooden puppets to retell the creation story.
We celebrate our 'stars of the week' a well done to Loic and Aylin.
Thank you to those parents who have signed up to Class Dojo, if you have not already done so please could I ask you to do it so we can start sharing your child's good news with you. Many thanks.
We wish you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Vinci & Mrs Direnzo
