Year 5 Class News (8.7.22)
This week has flown by as we’ve been completing our Maths and English assessments. Well done for all your efforts! In addition to that, we’ve been comparing the different life cycles of mammals, birds, insects and amphibians in Science and in English we’ve been writing about cycles too. Our class book, ‘The Promise’, has the main character (a young girl) planting acorns, which she inherited from an old woman, and improving her city. In turn, she hands on the task of planting more acorns to another person and so the cycle continues. In RE we’ve compared the Beatitudes to the Ten Commandments and discussed which of them would be applicable to our lives today.
At the end of the week we celebrated Aspirations Day where we had to dress as someone we aspire to be when we’re older. We had demonstrations of the different types of jobs we could do from some very inspirational speakers; a nurse/midwife, a recruitment consultant, a police officer and a dancer from the entertainment industry. We were able to try out other professions in the school hall through role play, or as teachers/TAs in classrooms and secretaries in the school office as well. It was a very interesting day and gave us lots of ideas for our future roles in life.
Well done to our writer and Stars of the Week too. Have a lovely and restful week-end. Take care and stay safe.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard and Mrs Direnzo
