This week started with our much anticipated trip to Hertfordshire Zoo! After talking about it for weeks, the day had finally arrived! When we arrived, we looked around and saw lionesses, leopards, zebras, camels, lemurs, marmosets and lots of other animals. We then had a 'Roars and Claws' workshop and learned all about big cats. After that we had lunch, followed by a Sun Bear Mini-Meet, during which Chris, the zookeeper, told us all about the Sun bear. He also commented on how well the children were behaving and what inciteful questions they asked! Well done Year 1! Lastly, we watched a bird display, played in the playground and visited the dinosaur display. It was a fantastic day and hopefully lots of wonderful memories were made.
The rest of the week was a little calmer! We continued our story of Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion. I pretended to be the lion in the story and the children had to ask me questions, based on the story, while I was in character. The children then wrote their own questions and practised using question marks
In maths, we looked at money, recognising values and making amounts.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Carpineta
