What the Ladybird heard...Next!
Another week has flown by and has been another busy and very hot one!!
Our Literacy text this week was the second instalment of the Julia Donaldson Ladybird story... 'What the Ladybird heard Next'. This time is wasn't the prize cow being stolen but the hen who lays the best eggs! The children enjoyed retelling the story and using all the puppets and props. We have a small world farm set up in our tuff tray, and the children enjoyed using maps of the farm from the story to trick the robbers not to steal the hen!
In our Expressive Arts area, Nursery were very creative and made their own 'snuggly snoods' from the story, using tissue paper, feathers and crayons. Their cutting and sticking skills are fantastic!
In maths we have been looking at repeating patterns and the children have been trying to make their own with the unifix cubes. We have been continuing with our phase 2 phonics, this week our sound 'e'. We are so impressed how many sounds the children have learnt and recognise in print around our classroom. We continue to practice our name writing, the children are doing so well! Please keep supporting this at home and a gentle reminder that apart from the first letter of their name we write all letters in lower case a. b, c, d, etc.
In RE we are continuing out topic on friendship and how Jesus taught us to follow in his ways and how to be a good friend.
We have begun practicing our assembly and as you will have seen from Dojo, your child has been sent home with their words to practice. We are already so proud of their confidence and remembering their lines!! Go Nursery!!
We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday 4th July 9:10am .
Please remember on our hot days all children to come to school wearing sun cream, sun hats and water bottles.
Also please could you remember all hair accessories for Nursery should be school colours - white, black, yellow/gold or burgundy red
Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy our school summer fete, enjoy the Euros and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday!
Best wishes,
Mrs Vinci & Mrs Direnzo
