Year One News 10/6/2022
Welcome back!
I hope you all had a wonderful half term. Can you believe we are in the final half term of Year One?!
Another busy week as we conducted the Phonics Screening tests this week. The children have all worked so hard learning and practising their phonics and this was reflected in their performance in the test. Well done to them all, we are so very proud of each and every child. Thanks to you all for your support at home, helping your child to practise their phonics and alien/real words.
In maths this week we were learning about division and sharing between two groups with and without remainders. A very tricky concept but the children worked so hard, so well done!
In science, we looked at classifying animals into different groups.
In English we wrote accounts of our half terms and developed our sentence writing using phase 5 phonic words.
We concluded the week with our final charity day on Friday for the NSPCC. Thank you to all of you for sending biscuits in for our biscuit sale to Year 3. The children also enjoyed a cake or two when we visited Year 3's cake sale. A delicious way to raise money for a very worthy cause!
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday,
Mrs Carpineta and Mrs Cina.
