Class News 22.3.24
The penultimate week before the Easter break and what a busy week it has been! It was Charity week this week and the entire school were busy raising money, as part of the academy, towards the pilgrimage to Lourdes. Thank you so much for your generous donations. It was wonderful to see the children dressed up as heroes on Monday and we all had lots of fun making, decorating and eating our Easter nests! Raising money for charity and having a delicious treat, what could be better? On Tuesday it was St Joseph's Day and in honour of St Josephs we became carpenters for the day, making wooden crosses out of lolly sticks. We teamed up with Year 5 to do this and the children all worked brilliantly together. IT was amazing to welcome so many parents for our St Joseph's Day mass and then the feast day celebrations ended with a delicious visit from the ice cream van!
This week I have been retesting for the phonics screening test. Please do use those alien/real word packs I have sent home as a sort of 'revision' exercise for children to practise using their phonics. There has been fantastic progress since December but we need to keep pushing forward. Keep up the great work, Year 1!
Have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday,
Mrs Carpineta and Mrs Nicolini.
