What the Ladybird heard...

Continuing with our farm topic, we began our week introducing our new text 'What The Ladybird Heard' by Julia Donaldson.

The children enjoyed retelling the story and acting out the different parts of the animals. We also listened to a power point on farm animals and their sounds and it was interesting seeing the children's reactions to the different animals found on the farm especially the goose and the rooster.

As you will have seen from class dojo we have been continuing to practice our counting, our 1;1 correspondence and matching numerals. the children are all doing really well. Keep up the practicing Nursery!

We have continued with our phase 2 phonic sounds - this week our sound has been 'u'. The children love playing a game as a class team where they have to say the sound ! They beat me every time!! We have also been continuing to practice writing letters of the sounds we have learnt and our names. Keep up the good work Nursery, it would be great if we could also practice this at home too!

To support our fine motor skills we have been threading, using the playdough to make farm animals and we have had a 'free' creative table full of different resources such as feathers, sequins, straws, card, paper, crayons, felts and pencils, where the children could explore and use the range of materials to be as creative as they want! They have great ideas and make the most wonderful of things!

We also have a mini farm set up in our tuff tray area as well as our farm and farm shop role play area which the children all love to play in!!

We are starting to enjoy some lovely, hot, sunny weather - please could you make sure your child has had sun cream applied in the morning before coming to Nursery. They can keep a roll on sun cream in their bag to top up later on and it would be great if you could show your child how to apply it.  Please also bring sun hats to wear and bottles of water in school everyday please smiley

Date for your diary, Nursery assembly will be on Thursday 4th July at 9:10am in Nursery classroom.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Vinci & Mrs Direnzo
