Autumn 2, Week 1 - Friday 8th November 2024
I'm sure the half term holiday flew by for everyone and already the first week back is complete! I have only been in school for two days this week but have heard great things from Mrs Puntrello about the behaviour and hard work in class for the days I wasn't in, so well done Year 6. A great start to Autumn 2. We have completed our history topic on What the census can tell us about our local area and will be moving on to geography this half term. Our topic is Why does population change? We will be looking at global population, change over time, reasons for migration and also how climate affects population.
This week in RE we have been looking at Judaism. In Year 6, this has involved finding out about Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish new year) and Yom Kippur - the day of atonement. We have also looked back to links with the Old Testament, finding links in Leviticus and Joshua to investigate Rosh Hashanah further.
This afternoon, Year 6 had some time in Forest School with Mrs Smith, collecting leaves and twigs and using them to create welcoming areas for creatures such as moths and butterflies to lay eggs safely.
