Week 2
Thank you for a super second week in Year 5. We’ve worked hard this week in Maths investigating the place value of 7-digit numbers, writing them in both words and digits and identifying the different value of each digit and comparing them with other similar numbers.
In our English we’re exploring two new super books – ‘The World of the Unknown Monsters’ by Carey Miller and ‘The Book of Mythical Beasts and Magical Creatures’ by Stephen Krensky – with a view to writing a non-chronological report.
In RE we’re exploring and writing about the qualities that God has given us in order for us to be more like him. We’ve shown a lovely sense of responsibility and determination to uphold those qualities in our lives as well as being guardians of the earth.
In Science we are beginning to learn about the movement of the Earth as it orbits the Sun and its relationship to the moon as well as comparing the sizes of the planets in our solar system.
In our hockey lessons in PE we’ve been practising how to do open stick dribbling and reverse stick dribbling and everyone is doing really well!
Finally, many congratulations to our Stars and writer of the week! Have a super weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week in class.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
